*TRACK OF THE WEEK*: ‘Joop! Homme’ – Kimbo Nice : Buzzing with colourful lyrical hooks and spirited harmonies, ‘Joop! Homme’ steps between pop and psychedelia, crafting a groove-filled gaze into sunnier skies. Speaking about the track, the band say it surrounds a “realisation that some things change and some things stay the same,” noting “it’s about being free and having fun, but also about realisations, about self awareness and reflection.” FFO: Squid
‘Center Page’ – blaizedotcom : Filled with rich synth tones and cloudy vocal hooks, ‘Center Page’ explores “seeing things that are right in front of you, particularly the things you don’t like”; juxtaposing feelings of escapism, with the thought of always being stuck in the same place. FFO: Temporex
‘Hallway’ – Dazey : A dance-pop escapade, ‘Hallway’ is rippling with tranquil vocal hooks and layered instrumentals, falling into a subtle, yet powerfully driven, chillwave tune. Talking about the process of creating the track, Dazey says, “I wrote it as an exercise to get out of writing sad songs, but as time went on, the meaning of the song served as a template of how to navigate difficult experiences.” FFO: Weyes Blood
‘Unseen Miracles’ – Flowerovlove : London-based artist, Flowerovlove has released her newest single, ‘Unseen Miracles’. Pairing carefully crafted instrumentals with deep lyricism, the track falls into a swirling pop paradise. ‘Unseen Miracles’ is Flowerovlove’s second release so far this year, after debuting her first single, ‘Kiss and Chase’. FFO: Claire Rosinkranz
‘Rush Off’ – Openness ft Miranda Rae Hey and Oliver Qiu : Layering delicately produced instrumentals with poetic lyricism and lulling vocals, ‘Rush Off’ sails away into a jazz-pop-infused blend of shimmering beats and dulcet guitars. Recorded and produced at Keelan’s home, the track is the penultimate song on ‘Adore the Journey’, a new full-length record from Openness. FFO: Tom Misch
‘New Feeling’ – Mateo Mancuso : With effortlessly groovy vocal hooks, and sweet hints of soul and jazz, ‘New Feeling’ is a delightful pop get away, rolling into soft harmonies and vivid melodies. Exploring “the feeling of starting fresh after a breakup”, ‘New Feeling’ was recorded in a single day in Mateo’s bedroom, with Dave Hjin stepping in to improvise of all the guitar parts in one take. FFO: Rex Orange County
‘Kaleidoscope’ – Jealous Tina : The new single from Bath-based five-piece, Jealous Tina, is the first track on their debut EP, ‘She Who Leaves Her Guard Down’.
‘Dust In The Water’ – Troigo : Combining fuzzy guitars with rising verses, ‘Dust In The Water’ blends shimmering pop and anthemic rock, running into fast-paced melodies and high-powered choruses. Troigo notes that the track was written after a messy break-up, saying that his thought process afterwards “ultimately led to this moment in time – feeling stuck, but having to accept that that’s okay.” FFO: Wolf Alice
