Since last month’s worrying announcement that multiple venues in Hull and Manchester were set to close, four friends have been working on a huge project to raise money for the Music Venue Trust.
Piran Aston, Katie Macbeth, Niamh Pillinger and Eden Robinshaw came up with an idea to create a compilation album, packed with 53 tracks from artists across the UK.
Featuring the likes of The Orielles, Courting, BDRMM and many more, ‘The Big Plan’ compilation costs just £5, with all funds raised going to the Music Venue Trust and Help Musicians UK. Those who buy the compilation will also be entered into a raffle, for a chance to win big merchandise prizes.
Speaking about how the project first started up, Katie Macbeth said the group “decided that there must be something we could do to save independent venues from closure,” with Piran Aston noting the album “has been challenging but so much fun to compile. We had so much interest right from the get-go so it’s incredible to see how many artists are involved.”
