Venues across the UK will today light up in red to signal the tough situation facing the music industry.
Due to artists having to reschedule or cancel most live shows set to take place this year, #LightItInRed seeks to highlight the support needed for the live music sector, which spans across a huge chain of companies and people. The campaign aims to ensure financial support can be extended for those working within live music, until they are able to safely return to their jobs.
The hashtag #WeMakeEvents has been created for the campaign, focusing on the large number of people who work behind the scenes to make live shows happen. The live music sector as a whole is worth over £1bn to the UK economy, meaning it’s vital it receives the funding it urgently needs.
