Soundtracked – July 19th

Here are some of the recent song releases we’ve been enjoying at LDOI. All songs featured can be found in the Spotify playlist linked at the bottom of the page (updated weekly).

*TRACK OF THE WEEK*: ‘The Treacle Trap Door’ – English Teacher : Featuring on Come Play With Me’s lockdown compilation album, the starry new single from Leeds-based band, English Teacher, is a swirling array of hazy instrumentals and misty vocal hooks; layering subdued guitar riffs with firing drum beats and glittering production. ‘Makingmoves’ – Senator : The debut release from dream-pop duo, Senator, blends airy vocals with sweet guitar notes, venturing through colourful basslines and gentle synth hooks. The band are currently leading up to their debut EP, set to be released in September. FFO: Vansire

‘My Sista Told Me’ – Nyah Grace : The gorgeous new jazz-infused anthem from UK-based artist, Nyah Grace, was written in collaboration with Corinne Bailey Rae, combining soulful vocal hooks with sunny choruses and slick, spoken-word verses. FFO: MALIA

‘Lose My Cool’ – ROMES : Summery, vibrant, and full of groove, the latest single from Toronto-based duo, ROMES, is packed with catchy chorus hooks and spinning melodies; finessed with bright production from Foster The People’s Mark Foster. FFO: Kid Astray

‘Fresh Orange’ – Wildest : Leeds-based trio, Wildest, have released their newest single, ‘Fresh Orange’. Tranquil in style, the track flows with mellow, synth-heavy instrumentation, combining passionate vocals with melodic piano playing and smooth production. FFO: Speak Easy

‘Double’ – Karis Lee : Texas artist, Karis Lee’s latest release is short but sweet, cruising through rich vocals and addictive lyrical hooks, whilst combining slick R&B beats with laidback pop melodies. FFO: BANKS

‘If You Begged For Me, Would I Have Stayed?’ – Phoebe Marshall : Rising vocals and vivid lyrical hooks race towards euphoric choruses in the newest single from Leeds artist, Phoebe Marshall. The track was recorded and produced virtually during lockdown with Leeds producer, Chris Mulligan. FFO: Haim

‘English Morning’ – Kowloon : Melding soft guitar tones with introspective vocal hooks, the new release from Los Angeles artist, Kowloon, explores groove-filled beats and sunny melodies, sailing through poetic lyricism laced in melancholy. FFO: parking lot
