Soundtracked – June 14th

Here are some of the recent song releases we’ve been enjoying at LDOI. All songs featured can be found in the Spotify playlist linked at the bottom of the page (updated weekly).

*TRACK OF THE WEEK*: ‘You Won’t Believe How Beautiful She Is When It Has Snowed” – English Teacher : The gorgeous new track from Leeds-based group English Teacher mixes rich vocals with whirling psychedelia, crafting a misty pop track, doused in nostalgic instrumentation. All proceeds from the track’s sales on Bandcamp go towards the Black Lives Matter movement. FFO: Yellow Days

‘Roundabout’ – Tania Kruezbauer : The newest single from UK and Switzerland based artist Tania Kruezbauer “explores the concept of a loved one being at a low point in life from the perspective of those around them”, evolving into a sweet summer anthem, filled with laidback instrumentation and mellow vocal hooks. ‘Cracking’ – Western Maude : American artist, Western Maude’s new release, ‘Cracking’, is a fuzz-filled lo-fi hit, packing in hints of psychedelic rock, blended with soft, dream-pop melodies. The track comes as part of Western Maude’s new EP, ‘Slow Burner’, which was released last month. FFO: Vansire

‘Uni Alone’ – Last Lynx : ‘Uni Alone’ is the latest single from Swedish group, Last Lynx. Bringing together rolling synths, soul-powered vocals, and glittering touches of R&B, the track is the band’s first release after a five year break, when band member Robin Eveborn was diagnosed with cancer. ‘Same Air’ – Sebastian Mayor : Hazy guitar hooks and lo-fi vocal production shines through in the new release from UK-based artist, Sebastian Mayor, exploring the growing ease of long distance relationships, and expressing a heartfelt hopefulness towards developing long-term connections. ‘Velvet Room’ – Ay Wing : Berlin-based producer Ay Wing’s newest single is delicately soulful in style, interlacing breezy vocals with swirling melodies, filled with subtle nods to neo-soul and upbeat dance-pop . She describes the ‘Velvet Room’ as “a sacred sanctuary for creativity and solace, a space for oneself where we can re-recent ourselves and find clarity.” FFO: Raveena

‘Marina’ – Ösla : The latest release from American artist Ösla is packed with dream-like vocals and tranquil instrumentation, waltzing around cozy harmonies and faint drum beats. ‘Marina’ is Ösla’s first single since the release of his debut EP, ‘Moony’ in 2018. FFO: Temporex

‘All’ – Henry Green : The new single from Henry Green ties quiet instrumentals and chilled out vocal hooks, crafting a bubbling soft-pop track, brimming with sweet lyricism. ‘All’ is Green’s fifth release of the year so far. FFO: Tom Misch

‘Renegade’ – Fruut : Philadelphia based producer and singer/songwriter, Fruut’s new single blends lulling R&B with clouded vocals and twinkling synths, creating a authentic track which “looks into the struggle to allow someone into your life and trust that they won’t hurt you like you’ve been hurt before.” FFO: Isabelle Brown
