22-year-old indie folk artist, Tom Baird has revealed a new double side single. Released ahead of his upcoming five-track EP, ‘Lonely Hour’, along with its B-side, ‘New Year’ explore personal stories, blending mellow vocals with intricate guitar notes. Both tracks were recorded, mixed and self-produced in the singer’s own bedroom over the span of a few weeks, crafting a warm, lo-fi production style, glittering with soul.
Discussing ‘Lonely Hour’, Baird said it’s “roughly about the experience of drifting away from my hometown and my personal experiences there after having lived away from it for some time”, meanwhile ‘New Year’ entails the story of a “semi-disastrous New Year’s experience me and some good friends shared, and finding some sort of beauty together in that chaos, in a city far from home, before midnight.”
