Brantwood release new single – interview with the band

After nearly a year of radio silence, Indiana indie rockers Brantwood have returned with brand new single ‘You Don’t Know’.

With influences from The Beatles, The Stones and Zeppelin, to Hippo Campus, Peach Pit and Tame Impala, Brantwood’s low-fi indie rock sound and mellow guitar riffs deliver high spirits to dark Winter days.

Inspirations for their latest single come from Mac Demarco, The Growlers and Sure Sure – “just a mashup of different indie bands.” ‘You Don’t Know’ is funk-infused indie rock with peachy harmonies – a fruity Summer sound perfect for holiday playlists.

The band also discussed their song writing process, “Lyrics are usually between Sam or Hubble. Sometimes it’s together but there’s been other songs where they do it themselves entirely. Music is usually Sam or Hubble’s original idea then it starts to shape when the whole band is running it together.” Further discussing the production of their music, they explained, “We’ve been in a real studio tracking ourselves, so it’s been a fun process of experimenting and getting creative on the spot.”

The quartet’s current ambition is to create an album, “A full album is something we’ve wanted to do for a while, but we haven’t had the chance up until now.”

And finally will we be hearing more music soon? Here’s what they had to say: “This single is part of something bigger so new music is around the corner. Don’t want to give a definite date but keep an eye out during the Spring.”
