Boy Pablo and Jimi Somewhere live at Belgrave Music Hall Leeds

It was a freezing cold October night as 200+ music fans packed into a (nearly!) sold out Belgrave Music Hall. The weather may have been chilly; however it wasn’t long before the room started to get very, very sweaty.

It’s not often a support act manages too win over a crowd in the space of half an hour, but Jimi Somewhere did just that. From the start of the set, his eclectic personality was infectious, sending ripples of excitement throughout the crowd. The Norwegian singer got every person in the room jumping – a short warm-up for what was to come…

Boy Pablo exceeded my expectations and more – playing nearly every song in his discography; from his latest EP, to older fan favourites. Pablo and his band had the crowd behind them right from the beginning, and by the end everybody was dancing, singing, and feeling like they were part of the band themselves.

From ‘t-shirt’ to ‘Everytime’, each song was a crowd pleaser – ‘Dance Baby!’ being a standout favourite.

The setlist even featured a cover of Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’ which dare I say, was better than the original! Also featured was a small acapella singalong of ‘Afternoon Delight’ – much to the crowd’s amusement.

Ending the show on a high with ‘Feeling Lonely’, the sheer energy and enthusiasm from both the crowd and the band made the evening very worth it.

It’s unlikely Boy Pablo will be playing anymore small capacity venues again anytime soon… Next time he visits the UK he’s guaranteed to be playing much bigger rooms!
